Putin inaugurates bridge connected Russia and Crimea
The Kerch Strait Bridge, a 12-mile bridge connecting Russia to the Crimean Peninsula which the country annexed from Ukraine was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This bridge touted to be the longest bridge in Europe is expected to accommodate 40,000 passenger cars daily and will offer passage to Crimea’s 2.3 million citizens. Ukranian President Petro Poroshenko has decried the construction and the US State Department condemned it as illegal.
