Sony acquires EMI music Publishing for $2.3B
Sony is buying a 60% stake in EMI Music Publishing company which owns the rights to songs by artists like Kanye West and Alicia Keys. Sony will now own about 90% of EMI making it the world’s biggest music publisher. The company said it will pay $2.3 billion in cash for the acquisition. Bringing in the EMI catalog will increase Sony’s music library to about 4.5 million songs.
