Telegram, the most widely used social media app in Iran has been banned in the country due to allegations of illegal activities. The government has suggested a few locally developed alternative apps. The app has also been blocked in Russia because of its refusal to offer access into encrypted conversations. To counteract the ban, Telegram employed cloud platforms which were still blacklisted. Pavel Durov, Telegram’s founder has organized protests against the governmental actions.
