UN Security Council delegation visits Myanmar’s Rakhine state
Four delegates representing member countries of the UN Security Council visited Myanmar’s controversial Rakhine State where allegations of human rights violation and army-led violence upon Rohingya Muslims, an ethnic group, by the government have been reported. The victims have sought refuge in nearby Bangladesh where they are housed in squalid living conditions. UN ambassadors met with the victims as well as with Myanmar government officials. Further investigation of the crimes has been suggested.
